Friends and Fun

Green Light Academy is one of many educational and cultural programs offered by Beacon Preservation, Inc. a nonprofit organization designed to promote environmental conservation, sustainable energy options, and “green collar” skills training through lighthouse preservation.

All interested students are encouraged to apply. The GLA is not only committed to improving academic achievement, we welcome students from diverse backgrounds who represent the wide range of Connecticut’s geographic and social pectrum.

Your week kicks off with a visit to a Zip-line and Ropes Course Challenge! Our staff of GLA college-Intern ounselors work with students to make sure everyone makes friends, explores new opportunities, develops talent, and has a good time.

Evening social activities include Film Discussion Club, Creative and College-Prep Writing a , Videography & Photography workshops, and GreenBook Club (our “yearbook” team). There are plenty of sports activities such as soccer, flag football, frisbee, swimming, hiking, and (this year we hope to add) YOGA! You can join a nature-walk or star-gazing group, help weed the COA community garden, contribute your photos to the GreenBook, or participate in a film discussion after each night’s movie showing. Mixing it up is all part of the fun.
